  • Moses Gunn, who played “Carl Dixon”, died from asthma complications in late 1993 in Guilford, Connecticut.
  • Esther Rolle, who played “Florida Evans”, died from diabetes complications at age 78 in 1998 in Culver City, California.
  • Johnny Brown, who played  “Nathan Bookman”, the building superintendent and Willona’s longtime enemy. He died from a heart attack in March 2022.
